There is a current improvement that has been bothering me and many other Nigerians for the past years
and that is the emergency of the yahoo syndrome, which has eaten deep into the lives of our citizens
especially the youths of our time.

So alarming is the upgraded version of the Yahoo Yahoo syndrome, known as Yahoo plus and it is based
on the use of charms to subjugate a victim(client).

The most annoying thing about this very act is the inability of the security agencies and personnel in
apprehending this cankerworm which has not only the capital of destroying the social ethos of our
Nation but its very existence as an organized social entity.

This is an anti-social activity that is gradually graduating into a generally Accepted crime in our society
today.
In the actual sense, Yahoo Yahoo is fraudulent which is largely perpetrated with the aid of the internet
that is why it is referred to as a cyber theft.
Syndrome On its own is defined as a set of physical conditions that shows one is ill with a disease.
The Yahoo Yahoo syndrome, as a disease has eaten thick into the lives of our citizens, especially the
Youths, and has also caused lots of destruction to our Society and Nation at large, thereby abandoning
us in a state of pandemonium, chaos, and doom.

One of the problems with our present generation is that everyone is in a search of a means of acquiring

wealth.

2.PEER GROUP INFLUENCE:

Most people are easily deceived by the inferiority of peer groups.
Most youths today are ever ready to go to any length to acquire wealth and live like other youths in the
society.

When the people governing the Nation do not play their role effectively for instance provision of social
amenities, free Education, etc, the citizens are forced to look for an easier means to satisfy their needs

4.LACK OF PROPER UPBRINGING:

When parents fail to give their children a proper upbringing such children will turn out to be the roots of
unlawful acts happening in society. They will earnestly be influenced with ease by their friends, Thereby
increasing crime rates in the economy.

decadence in various sectors of the Human and National development

1. IT DESTROYS THE IMAGE OF A NATION AND ITS INHABITANTS :

There is this famous saying that a good name is better than riches.
The yahoo crime has destroyed the good names for which our Nation and its inhabitants were known.
Owing to the sudden increment in the rate of fraud in our Nation today, our Nation has been regarded
as one of the most corrupt countries in the world. And its effects are manifested in the manner citizens
of this country are been treated by other citizens of other Nations.

2. DOWNFALL IN THE EDUCATIONAL SECTOR:

The relevance and importance of education to our Nation is gradually fading away as students no longer
value their education but now believe solely in Yahoo for their survival in the society, by this very act
the educational sector has experienced
Decadence.

4. DESTRUCTION OF OUR RELIGIOUS AND CULTURAL VALUES:

This famous cyber theft (Yahoo) has caused a lot of damage to our Religious and Cultural values.
The tradition of hardworking in the Igbo land is gradually fading away because people no longer believe
in hardworking but are convinced that they can attain riches in the comfort of Their rooms.

5. LOSS OF LIVES AND PROPERTIES:

Lots of properties and lives have been lost into the cold hands of death due to the activities of these fraud stars (Yahoo boys)

As one’s life savings can be lost in the hands of the fraud Stars within a twinkle of an eye, such victims
might die of the psychological trauma been faced.

6. ECONOMIC DECLINE:

Any Economy that is faced with this disease will never progress, rather there will be a total downfall in
the economy of such a Nation and its inhabitants suffers it.

7. LOSS OF POTENTIAL INVESTMENTS:

Inbuilt abilities in youths will be derailed totally, They feel so lazy
to develop their potential and skills. It’s obvious, that they are indebted to this fraudster, thereby
making them lose hope. As depending on defrauding people.

POSSIBLE STEPS TO TAKE TOWARDS THE ELIMINATION OF THE YAHOO SYNDROMES

1. PUBLIC ENLIGHTENMENT/EDUCATION:

To get rid of this fraudster activity and illegal acts, the government should organize a public education
and enlightenment program in other to teach the masses about the inherent dangers and evils
associated with the crime (Yahoo Yahoo).

2. PROVISION OF JOB OPPORTUNITIES:

The government and other cooperative bodies should endeavor that there are job opportunities for
citizens, in other to avoid the temptation of joining the league of the fraud stars(Yahoo boys) as a result
of unemployment.

3. PUNISHMENT FOR OFFENDERS:

There should be adequate corrective measures mapped out for offenders.
And it should be adequate for the crime, for example, Long term imprisonment or the death penalty.

development and well-being of our Nation and her citizens, there is a need for reorientation and
mobilization of people, especially the youths to abandon fraudulent activities and embrace hard work
for the development of the Nation and her citizen and also for the Nation to regain her integrity and
respect from other Nations as it was in the previous years.

Deliberating on the present situation of the economy is just so devastating that youths are not only participating in illegal mobilization and disruptive but likewise killing humans for rituals to increase their funds or money.

This act of deformity can be eradicated and reduced, When there are enough job opportunities for the
youths and citizens to keep them busy, online skills likewise should be encouraged, not everyone is
privileged to participate in physical engagement skills or work, unpaid to a predicament or the other.

Those caught in the evil act should be penalized severely, it will be a warning and lesson to others who are in or about to commence.

Parents should always monitor the activities of their children, most of them are influenced through
