Uk is known for having the best universities in the world. However, the rankings of UK universities in international league tables have gone down for the third year in a row. This is due to the effects of Brexit and cuts to funding.
The latest annual review of 1,000 universities around the world by the research group QS Quacquarelli Symonds “downgrades two-thirds of the 84 UK universities” that were reviewed, according to The Guardian. Similar drops have happened since the UK voted to leave the EU, ending decades of good results.
Oxford University
This year, the University of Oxford is at the top of the best schools in the UK. It has been the best in the world for the past six years in a row. Concerning performance, Oxford got nearly perfect scores for teaching, research, citations, and international outlook. With a score of 10.7 for the number of students per staff, it has the second-highest score on the list for this ranking criterion.
University of Cambridge
The University of Cambridge is the fourth-oldest university in the world and has an overall score of 94.6. Five of the six criteria used by Times Higher Education to rank universities (teaching, research, citations, international outlook, and overall impression) almost gave the university a perfect score. The university thinks that an impressive 39% of its students are from outside the United States.
King’s College London
This year, King’s College London (KCL) is still ranked seventh in the UK, and it moves up two spots in the global rankings to tie for 31st. KCL is one of four universities in London that are in the top 10 in the UK. It does well in all categories, but its academic reputation puts it in the top 50 universities in the world. The college says that an impressive 72% of its students come from outside the United States.
University of Manchester
The University of Manchester is in the busy city of Manchester. It is known worldwide for its groundbreaking research and discoveries, such as the first splitting of an atom. The ratio of students to teachers at the university is an impressive 14.3, and the number of female students to male students is 54 to 46, which is also a good score. With a score of 45.6 in industry income, however, the university could try to do better in this area.

University of Glasgow
The University of Glasgow will be one of the best universities in the UK in 2022. The university is in Glasgow, Scotland’s creative and cultural center. In international outlook and citations, the university gets almost perfect scores. International students comprise 40% of the nearly 35,000 students at the University of Glasgow. This shows how diverse the student body is at this university.
Imperial College London
This year, Imperial College London made it into the top three in the UK. This science-focused school in the center of the English capital has an estimated 59% international student population. Imperial College London also has a high number of students per staff member, with 11.3 students per staff member. But the university could work on its score of 40 to 60 for the number of female to male students.
The University of Edinburgh
The University of Edinburgh is the only Scottish school in the top 10 in the UK. It is ranked fifth in the UK and is still the 20th-best university in the world. It ranks 25th and 31st in the world for academic reputation and 31st for employer reputation.
